For a PE owned A&D specialty machining company, Quantum developed standard work hours, by process area for their key products. At the start of the engagement, Quantum identified significant gaps in current time tracking. Quantum implemented disciplined time tracking process on the floor at each work center, trained the supervisors and installed KPIs to manage adherence.
In parallel, Quantum worked closely with Operations, Engineering and Cost Accounting to analyze historical standards and actual work hours by product, and develop statistical models to calibrate with observed times on the floor. Based on this, Quantum developed standard work hours for each product, as input to production planning. Quantum also developed a process for ongoing periodic review and update of the standards.
